Sandi's throw of 72 feet 5 inches placed her second overall in the women's competition. “Throwing the chip is easy, but keeping it between the lines and getting a good distance is the challenging part. I was nervous about having to be the first woman to throw. I would have liked to have been able to watch a few throws first.”
In the men's division, Craig's throw of 128 feet 5 inches ranked him third overall. “I wasn't nervous at all, even though I was the second one to compete.” He was just hoping his shoulder would hold up. In the months leading up to the competition, Craig didn't practice at all because both rotor cuffs in his shoulders were hurting him terribly. His first throw disintegrated and he felt he had to throw conservatively due to cross winds after that.
Also competing from the area was Jill Kaps of Norfolk whose best throw earned her fourth place.
