Barbs Book Pick

. There are very few stories or even books written about WW I, but my pick this week takes place during that time period.  War Horse, by Michael Morpurgois, is a juvenile fiction told from the viewpoint of the main character, Joey the horse.  This beautiful red horse, which stands 16 hands high, is purchased as a colt at an auction and taken home to a farm.  He immediately was adopted and taken care of by Albert, the farmer's son.

Nebraska Book Review

Local Wonders: Seasons in the Bohemian Alps by Ted Kooser is the “One Book, One Nebraska” selection for 2011. Although Kooser is known for his poetry, this is not a poetry book.  The book is divided into four chapters: spring, summer, fall and winter in which the author shares a lifetime of observations about the land, home, people and family, describing in detail and humor the place he calls home in the rolling hills of southeast Nebraska known as the Bohemian Alps.

EBOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!!!
Ebooks and Audiobooks through Nebraska Overdrive are now available to check out for all patrons of the Tilden Public Library who have a home computer with internet access. When you click onto the link in the upper righthand corner, you will be taken to the Overdrive page, where it is suggested that you take a tour or go to the help button before your first download. In order to access ebooks and audiobooks it is VERY IMPORTANT that the addtional software be downloaded onto your computer through the Overdrive site, and you will need to create an account using your library card number. For quick reference, you can access the How-To Guide.

For anyone who is hesitant about accessing overdrive, or is having any issues or problems, feel free to contact Cindy at the librarary who will try to walk you through the process.
